Choosing cool t-shirts that the kids actually want
You may think you are ‘down with the kids’ but in reality you are probably out of touch with today’s youth. You want to think you are the cool parent, aunt etc but in reality most of us get it horribly wrong when choosing clothes for kids and teenagers. Teenagers in particular are very fussy when it comes to clothing or “garms” as the cool kids refer to them. A smile and a polite thank you gives the impression you have done the right thing but I am willing to bet 6 months later, the cool t-shirt or top you bought them is still in its wrapper at the back of the wardrobe of long gone on ebay.
The trick to choosing cool t-shirts for the younger generation is to not try too hard. The more “out there” the design, the more room there is to get it horribly wrong. If the person you are buying for is into cars for example. Rather than buying the most garish, in your face Gone In 60 Seconds t-shirt you can find, why not try looking for something classic like a retro car print t-shirt. Retro styles are a good bet for gifts. The same theory applies to most styles of t-shirts. If you are looking for a t-shirt for someone who is into gaming, avoid the latest titles, these date and often a game you think looks cool is the least cool game out there in the eyes of the kids so, rather than the latest Medal of Honour shirt why not look for a classic, retro Atari logo or something timeless. It’s far more likely to be appreciated and actually worn!
The number one mistake made is buying funny slogan t-shirts that YOU think are funny. All you are really doing is showing your poor taste and sense of humour. Unless specifically asked for, avoid “funny” slogans, drinking t-shirts and anything else you think is funny. Chances are your hilarious gift will end up as an expensive duster.
